As of 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that eligible facilities be located within a Health Professional Shortage Area, whether outside of a major metropolitan statistical area or in a rural census tract. To date, there are more than 20,000 facilities that meet these qualifications within the U.S., most of which are in need of qualified behavioral health professionals. With the Affordable Care Act now in place, these needs are only expected to increase in the coming years.
