All of the company’s clinical programs are developed and overseen by psychiatrists with more than 35 years of clinical experience. Edward R. Mashek; Managing Partner
Mr. Mashek has over forty years of experience in the health care industry. He is currently the Managing Partner of Brighter Day Health LLC. From 2004 until 2008, Mr. Mashek was Chairman of HealthHelp LLC, a leading radiology benefit management company. From 1999 to 2003, he was President of HospiScript, a pharmacy benefit management company for Hospices. In the 1990’s, Mr. Mashek co-founded a series of companies focused on distributing drugs and medical supplies directly to nursing homes and home care patients and then sold these companies to Transworld Healthcare, for which he managed the companies for several years. In the 1980’s, Mr. Mashek managed acquisitions and operating divisions for Glasrock Home Health Care. Mr. Mashek began his career in health care as corporate counsel for G. D. Searle and then for the London-based British Oxygen Corporation.
Dr. Gaylord Nordine; Chief Medical Officer
Gaylord Nordine, MD, DPH, a neuromedical clinician, health and healthcare management specialist. In this role Dr. Nordine focuses on developing effective personal engagement with patients and extending Brighter Day’s commitment to the integration of primary care, psychiatric, and psychological services as well as meaningful care outcomes measurement.
Dr. Nordine has practiced Preventive Medicine and Psychiatry for 30 years. He is an expert in neuromedical differential diagnosis and technologies required to support effectively integrated healthcare services.
Dr. Nordine has developed health management programs for private sector, state, and federal healthcare providers.
Dr. Nordine is Board Certified in Psychiatry (1979), a Doctor of Public Health, and is medically licensed in Iowa. He lives with his wife, Denise, in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Dean K. Parét, Ph.D. Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations
Dr. Parét was the former Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance for Deer Oaks Mental Health Associates. Dr. Parét has provided clinical and consulting services for the past 20 years for in-patient and outpatient hospital programs. Dr Parét has served as consulting clinical expert for Appellants in Administrative Law Judge Tribunal Hearing for the Medicare Court of Appeals in medical necessity hearings and fraud and abuse.
Dr. Parét has a strong political and clinical interest in the mental health delivery system to our older adult population. To this end, he served on a Practice Directorate Medicare Advisory Work Group, an informal APA committee/work group facilitated by the Director of Regulatory Affairs & Government Relations in Washington, DC.
Dr. Parét is a member of the Geropsychology Special Interest Group of the Texas Psychological Association, Gerontological Society of America, Tarrant Area Gerontological Society, American Geriatric Society and Division 12, Section 2 Clinical Geropsychology and Division 55 Psychopharmacology of the American Psychological Association and the national specialty group – Psychologist in Long Term Care for which he served as Treasurer from 2007-2010. He is a former Board of Trustee for the Texas Psychological Association, 2002-2005.
